Good Mail Day

My Post Box had a surprise for me! The silks for Chatelaines Japanese Garden from Victoria Clayton have already arrived. A week to the day since I ordered them, now that is service! They are all so pretty too, I’ve been sitting here at work fondling them for the past hour. If I could just make up my mind which fabric I wanted to order I could start my first Chatelaine but I am way too indecisive. I am still thinking a grey… but there are so many nice ones that I think would work. I’m going to have to go back to the fabric viewer for another play I think. Although the last time I did that I just got more confused.
In other stitching news I have put Dragon Lore aside for a bit to focus on some of my other wips. So I have a piccie of the small amount I got done. It is the top left had corner and really the picture does nothing to show you the depth in the background with the shading from the browns and black. This is just over 1200 stitches, I will get back to it as soon as I meet a few more of my goals. I have decided to re jig my rotation but am still trying to figure out how exactly.. lol.
I am rather annoyed at myself today too, I have two packages to send off (one to nicki in NZ and one to a friend in melbourne) and I keep forgetting to bring them to work.I only remebered because I was standing at the post office checking the PO Box. Grrr, hopefully tomorrow a brain cell will decide to fire in the memory portion of my brain and help me out.
Ipromised an email of all the thread I needed to my floss fairy too and I am still trying to work out what I want. I am figuring that I don’t want to make anyone go to a store and select out almost 500 skeins of DMC *faint* let alone the poor person behind the counter that would have to scan them all. So I have to scale down my list quite dramatically.
Floss? *perks* :p
500 skeins isn’t too many. Though it may crash their check-out terminal. That would be amusing to no end. hehe
Silks! Ooooooooo! Still petting them? I always have the hardest time putting them away once they arrive! Then, of course, stitching night comes around and I get them out for the girls to pet and it starts all over again!! Kathie bought the kit for Japanese Garden (over 2K beads in that pretty garden!) and is also tossing fabrics around. She’s thinking of Butterflies & Fairies from Sugar Maple. She had been thinking black until one day she thought it looked like one of those velvet dayglow throw blankets from the Elvis Era and changed her mind.
I just picked up about 200 skeins of DMC from a floss sale… so I can relate. I always help out the poor clerk and put the floss UPC code up for scanning. It goes a bit faster. The AC in the store was running hard that day, though, so it was really chilly in there, so my hands were COLD and I kept dropping stuff… then the clerk was too, so we were both laughing and annoying the lady behind me with the cartload of silk palm trees who kept huffing under her breath that I needed a *real* hobby. A real hobby like what? Gardening silk trees?
Anyway… what are you kitting up with all that floss, lady? I’ll share mine if you share yours! (Yours will be much more fun… mine are for projects with my girls.)
*HUGS!*
Oooh silks!
No need to rush to get to the PO for me. Thank you so much!
It would be so much easier if stores just counted the skeins, scanned one, and multiplied it. That’s what my LNS does. But I suppose the big stores are just too computerised and can’t afford to have someone checking the shelves to see what’s low on stock!
Sue: I have been fondling the silkies constantly
I *love* them. As for JG 2K beads!!!! wow this is my first chatelaine and I am still finding it a little daunting with the overall costs etc not to mention the size and complexity with the specialty fibres and threads.
I am going to get the bead pack from european cross stitch then save up for the other fires I think.
As for what I am kitting nothing that exciting really, just fully kitting wips (Dragon Lore (HAED) and The dragon tarot Hermit (Character cerations) they are both things I started without fully kitting. The excess is for a surprise so I can’t say :p
Nicki: Package is all sent so no stress. And really it is no problem I *love* sending off little envelopes for adventures around the world. And this one is going back to my home city
Lovely silks! Can’t wait to see them in person. And you and and the word “surprise” are dangerous… just be careful that whoever you hit hasn’t learnt the fine art of retaliation yet. You may start another war.. and you have a few going already
