Ready for the postman

It’s late but I have finally put the finishing touches on the invitations for my fathers 80th Birthday. They go out in the post tomorrow, thankfully I have managed to ring most people to let them know the details. If I waited until they got the invites it would have just been too short notice for most people. Better late than never though.

They turned out okay for  not really knowing what I was going to do. Trying to find non girly papers that I could use to put the invitations together with was a lot harder than I expected but the stars seem to work well. I wanted to get little ufo stickers for them but there were none to be found anywhere, next week I am sure I will see them every time I turn around. My father is a big sci-fi fantasy fan so they would have been a nicec little touch. The little R medallion at the top is actually silver not gold, the colours are a bit off because of the lighting as for the strange angle of the picture… umm my excuse is that it is late and well it is the only one that was clear of the few I took. So do you think they pass for 80th Birthday invitations?

I know I shouldn’t be thinking of starting stitching after midnight but a few stitches won’t hurt will it?…just a few stitches :)
Tomorrow will be another crazy day of organising in between scoping out the new IKEA store for shelving to organise my workspace at home so I can regain control of all the paper that define my PhD.

I have a stitching pic to share tomorrow too…. I need colour advice, more on that next post though.

bye bye for now

I think the invite looks great… and that was before I read he was a Sci-Fi fan… that said, I think the invite is *perfect* and I think that if you ever get sick of chemistry that you could make a fortune doing event planning and charge gobs extra for anyone who wants you to do it “at the last minute.” You’re amazing!!

What’cha stitchin’ that has you avoiding sleep to do it? It must be something fun! I should actually have a stitchy picture to post, too… imagine that!

IKEA is awesome… I think all of their furniture has a half-life. We have some shelves I got when I was in err, well… middle school, I think… the early 80s… and they are still living quite well in our utility room. They’d survive a nuclear attack along with the cockroaches.

Color advice… is someone going to be starting something new? *looks hopeful*

    HUGS!

You’ve done it again. You’ve put together something absolutely fantastic at almost the last moment. The invitations look perfect, and I’m glad that you’ll finally be able to get them out and move on to the next bit to stress about.

As for a little late night stitching, it never hurt anyone that I know of. I can make some guesses as to what you’re working on, but I’ll keep them to myself. ;)

Ooooo it sounds like a secret stitching conspiracy :p
It wasn’t so exciting I’m afraid.. well actually I think it is exciting I was stitching on RR v2.0. I stopped gridding and was stitching on the section I started. The colours are coming together really well and the fabric from country stitch is jsut right I think. *bounce*

Invitations look great. Looking forward to seeing your stitching too. Pity I didn’t come in on Fri, I could have seen some of it in person :)
