Stitching days, dragons and more

Yesterday was stitchy day!

I bundled up all too many wips and silkies adn headed off to nics for a day of chocolate stash fondling and even some stitching. :)
For a stitchy day we surprisingly actually got some stitching done for a change. I was a bit ADD like with choosing something to work on though. I bounced between my new cirques start (yes Sue I have started!) and my Japanese garden mostly. There really isn’t enough done to show pictures of either one though. At least no today.

When I got home I settled in for the night and worked on my Losst little dragon for the QS SAL. It is mostly background but I did start filling in some of the multitude of single stitches around the edges of the butterfly.

In other stitching news Mr B gave me a shopping spree online for christmas (with his credit card). Nothing over the top thankfully but I have put in an order into Stitching bits and bobs for seom threads etc thanks to thier 25% off sale. I have a bit more to spend at Had Dyed Fibres too once I sort out which colours I want. I’ve also been gifted some HAED charts Dillmans Fall fire and Queen of the night sky as well as Stephanie Pui-Man Law Page of wands. Whew that seems like so much already. I do want to say thank you to all the lovely little pixies that sent me gifts tank you so much. Between prints and silks , nightmare goodies, new charts and yummy whiskey along with all manner of other little treats I am feeling terribly spoilt *hugs* to you all and I hope your holidays were filled with happy moments.

For now though I think I have rambled enough… well that an I need to go clean and set up for our boardgames and bbq thing we are doing today. More pics of my stitching efforts soon. Hopefully my last christmas package will arrive soon and I can show what I got up to before christmas :)

Ta Da!

It was worth every single second that went into stitching this to see the reaction and love it was recieved with.

I’ve Finished!!!!

Pictures to come tomorrow once it is daylight and I have sewn on the backing (need to hide the back of my stitching).
I am so happy I got those evil evil santas finished in time to go live with all the other santas this christmas at my friends place.

Now I just have to choose what I want to stitch on for me for the next few days :D

Oh and becasue Nic said I had to take a picture of Sue trying to kill us with yummy stuff I give you a photo of what kept the screaming banshee company on her trip from the US of A
I go to dance about the house a bit more.. They’re done!

Sorry Nic

Woops I meant to post this Sunday and here it is already Tuesday.
Nic finished her RR layout which is now in my hot little hands while I try and sort out what I will stitch on it. Interesting shaped sections will make this a fun little treasure hunt for just the right section.

So here it is for everyones viewing pleasure an insight into Nics crazy mind:

I think they are so incredibly adorable, and now everyone can fully understand when Nic said her topic was “dragons but in more ways than one” The fabric is Queen Annes Lace Jobelan in 28ct I believe and the little dragon smoke clouds are all a little different :D

Santa visited my house this morning too and I was being all good in not opening the presents he brought until a squeaky little elf told me I had to. Though I only opened the one, the other is still waiting and therefore taunting me from the other side of the room. I feel spoilt alreadyand christmas isn’t even here yet.

As for my packages they are heading to the post office today before I explode in a fit of guilt lol.

Oh santa delivered me a dilemma… I now have to choose between two designs for the ink circles SAL and work out potential colours. This will take some serious consideration.

On the Home Stretch

Number 11 is done… woo hoo! only one more to go.

I am still a bit behind on getting packages out to the USA but hopefully they will be off tomorrow, sorry they will be late *begs for forgiveness*.

I have Nics Round robin now too after I wouldn’t let her leave here last night until the outlines were finished. I will take a piccie asap and post it to the album so everyone can see how crazy she is :D

For now though I must return to stitching the last doomy santa, soon the legion will be complete and I will just have to figure out the best way to finish and afghan… any suggestions?

Flutterby

Looky looky!!!

I have a flutterby butterfly :D
I finally managed to participate in the Wednesday QS SAL again *bounce* So I worked on Lost by Lisa Victoria. He is Sooooo cute I can’t wait to work my way to the litte draggie.

He’s stitched 1×1 on light blue 25ct Lugana and I luvs him

Quick finishes and restarts

If for no other reason that you can stitch so many of thier designs in a day I love dragon dreams :)
As a little break from the Santas I stitched the latest dragon dreams ornament yesterday during flights whilst playing World of Warcraft. I finished it off during breaks at work today :D There are a few little changes.. A black mug (seemed more appropriate for the person who it is going to) adn I used red kreinik in place of DMC 321. It is stitched on 32ct opalecent antique white lugana from silkweavers. I just need to do the finishing on this little guy and send him off.
That makes 3 projects now for the challenge 7 more and I can buy an ink circles chart to join in on the SAL, at least that gives me time still to plan out a colour scheme.

My other break from the santas this weekend was to restart Dragon Dreams Blackwork dragon. I started this back in June initially but the wildflowers thread I used was just too thick for the fabric count and the fine black work. I ordered the same colour: “emerald” in waterlillies and just got around to restarting it. The fabris is wandering Ivy linen in 32ct belfast from silkweavers. I am much happier with how it is looking this time round, not to mention how quickly it stitches up.

2006 seems to have been a Dragon Dreams year for me.. maybe I should choose a theme for 2007. this is of course in addition to my ever growing pile of HAED wips.

Operation Impending Doom (complete)

Wheee!
I finished my latest santa before 10am thismorning.. and for a change this weekend seems like it will allow me to get a decent amount of stitching time. This means that I am almost halfway through the next rotund little red and white guy.
Well here is panel #10 of 12 taking me to 83% complete *boogie* The corner ones are actually quite quick to complete :D

Now for tonights stitching effort I am undecided if I continue with my santa blitz or try for a possible quick finish with the new Dragon Dreams chrismyth ornament. It looks so cute! and I know a certain little wyvern that it would make a nice little stocking stuffer for.

My title for this post has given me an urge to watch Invader Zim , so at least I know what I’ll be watching whilst stitching.

And away she goes

My Round Robin left on its great journey yesterday. Unfortunately without my section finsihed … I was pretty silly trying to get a section of over 7000 stitches done before she hit the road but you get that. I think I managed over 200 stitches which let me know that she should come back looking fabulous. All the gridding is done *phew* and she is *HUGE*.

So the details are… for those that haven’t heard enough times already :)
Theme: Sectioned version of Linda Ravenscroft’s Turquoise (Gridding details provided by the ever patient and wonderful Nancy).
Fabric: Taupo in 36 count linen from country stitch. The dye is lighter than the usual colour for the linen and is more like that of the evenweave colouration.
Threads: DMC 2 threads over 2
The colour on the photos is really off but the lighting has been really funny here for the past few days and I just couldn’t get a good picture before sending it off.
I won’t see her now until sometime in 2008 I think. But until that time I am eagerly looking forward to working on everyone elses round robins. There are so many beautiful ideas being stitched up and with such a greta group of people too *bounce*
I think everyone is going to flip when they see Nics (I have given her a bit more time to get it to me seeing as I am busy with santas at the moment any way).

Talking of santas I should have another one finished today … does that make it impending Doom?

And there goes november…

Wow the past few weeks have been a complete whirlwind. Little to no stitching time but lots and lots going on. So where have I been adn what have I been up to, how about a story in pictures?

Okay, so way back when… November 21st to be precise I took a break from the madness that was party planning etc ann headed out to Cirque du Soleil! It was absolutely amazing and worth every cent of the ticket price. We had great seats (three rows from the stage just to the side). I was close enough to see costume details and they were just breath taking. I have wanted to see cirque for years, I have watched a lot of thier shows on TV and stuff but live was another thing entirely. It is astounding what they can do and the music, costumes adn overall story aspect of thier shows just take it beyond all expectations. Of course I almost died at the souvenier shop when I saw they had a selection of venetian style masks for sale. I have a huge love of masks and masquerade and they had some lovely ones there including the long nosed plague style masks. *sigh* at $600+ for the one I really liked though and $150+ for the cheapest there I contented myself with just taking a few pictures and dreaming :) We did get the book for Varekai (being the show we saw) and the soundtrack CD which is gorgeous and a cute little figurine all that not buying stash actually meant I had some money to spend.. lol jsut not enough for a mask.
The 24th saw Mr B’s birthday which he spent most of running about getting things ready for saturday (the surprise party for my dad) adn me stuck at a conference I was told I had to go to for politcal reasons even though there was nothing relaly of interest there for me. I skived off early though to go help Mr B and then we had dinner in town after getting him his b’day present of a remote controlled Dalek..( I will haev to take pics of it it is the coolest oty ever). We hit the movies (gold class) and saw the Prestiege which was better than I expected it was going to be.

Then it was home to face midnight preparations for the following day.. heh

Why I said yes to organising a surprise party on 2 weeks notice I have no idea but all in all the day / night went off well. There was jsut the right level of tacky with party poppers and streamers from the kids when he arrived and oodles of balloons. I am such an addict to helium filled balloons they look pretty and are oodles of fun to blow up :p

He was suitably surprised, overwhelmed and shocked at having freinds he hadn’t seen since 1988 there and of course the surprise at having all four of his daughters there was priceless. There was cake complete with dr who and davros fihgurines as cake ornaments and I gave him 15cds of the original doctor (William Hartnell) reading the first 5 or so Dr Who novelisations. I plan on “borrowing” them and getting them onto my ipod. I am sure he will drive his partner batty listening to them but he seemed over the moon with the present. Really, having a father obsessed with science fiction in fantasy makes gift decisions easy :D
Sunday was lunching with my sisters, cousin and father … It was somewhat odd to have finally met everyone but we all seemed to slip into place well adn had a great time. Next reunion is slated for my eldest half-sisters 50th in july of 2008. Margarita Party in New Zealand ! mmmm margaritas.

So there you have it a long and rambling account of where I ran off to. Since then it has been work , getting my round robin ready (pics to come of that) and wishing I had more time before christmas.

Hope everyone stateside had a great thanksgiving … I’m sure I bored you all to tears, if you even read this far…I promise stitching updates soon.
