Photo Hunt Take 26: Spring

Anoher sneaky catch up post. These pictures were taken on my trip to melbourne last september. The gardens around the (I think it is ) exhibition building were in full bloom and it was a really clear and sunny day… somewhat unusual for Melbourne I hear :p

Photo Hunt Take 24: Bridges

Eeeep yep it is a photo hunt update.

I kind of got behind on these and it made it hard to face coming back to them , with each passing week the task seemed more and more insurrmountable. I have just decided to pick it up again though and go back and fill in the gaps where I can.
This weeks was a bit tough, mainly through having to choose just one photo. I love bridges… I am not sure exactly why but I do and as a consequence there are a few pictures about on my hard drive that would have been suitable.
I was tempted to go with the obvious…given my trip to sydney but have decided on something I consider a little more eclectic.

This is the Capilano Suspension Bridge in Vancouver Canada. It was really misty and cloudy the day we were there but it didn’t dretract from the experience one bit. The Bridge is suspended high over a gorge and is quite the site to see hanging not so still across the cold waters below.

I have included a second image to give a little perspective of how high above the gorge the bridge is. You can read more about the bridge and its history here.

Photo Hunt Take 17: - Winter

Although I have literally thousands of images of frozen mountains and glaciers from Canada I haev decided to use this image for winter. It too was taken in Canada.. Jasper to be precise on a cold morning before heading out to continue our trek off down the Ice fields parkway. it is simply little frozen pine cones, rocks and a few forlorn leaves that were covering the ground in front of the Jasper Bear statue. It feels cold to me and reminds me of that quiet cold that creeps over everything in winter.

Photo Hunt Take 16: - Alone

Athabasca Falls, Alberta Canada

Photo Hunt Take 11: - Technology

Being a Chemist by trade I am often dealing with all sorts of gadgets and technology on a daily basis. Most of it seems mundane and everday or in the case of this photo reminds me of how downright tedious some of the tasks I have to perform are. This is a macro shot of the injection port on the HPLC (High Pressure Liquid Chromatography) machine I use in the lab. I shudder to think how many hundres of injections I have put through this machine let alone the number of hours I have sat in front of it wishing I could have it go faster.

Photo Hunt Take 9: Fire

Woops late again here is this weeks piccy though. Have I mentioned how much I adore fire? :D

Nic’s playing along too you can see her funky pic for this week here and some catch up posts as well.

Photo Hunt Take 8: Keys

Photo Hunt Take 7: Critters

For those of you that don’t know… I love squirrels!
So this week I have chosen a picture of a gorgeous little guy I stalked whilst in Canada. I had some other clearer photos of stalking squirrels from Notre Dame but I don’t have the CD handy at the moment so this guy is it. I just think they are adorable and so cute. The only thing that could rival a squirrel is a hedgehog I miss having hedgehogs under the bushes, I always loved looking for them when I was a kid in New Zealand.

Photo Hunt Take 6: Window

I’ll jsut slip this in here an no one will realise how late I am in posting it :)
I actually really love windows so I have a few pictures I could have chosen from for this week. Surprisingly enough (well to me anyway) eventhough I am not a religious person it seems I have a rather abundant collection of photos of churches and other religious iconography.

This weeks picture is from the bascillica at Notre Dame University. No unfortunately I have not been lucky enough to travel to France this is Notre Dame in South Bend Indiana. I was there for a conference at the start of my PhD. It was the most colourful of the “window” pictures I had on hand. Most of the others were shot in Black and White.

Photo Hunt Take 5: Autumn

Woops late again.

This weeks picture was taken in Armidale (Northern New South Wales) when I went in search of Autumn leaves… something we don’t get to see much of in Brisbane. Autumn would haev to be my favourite season. Yep it even beats out winter lol. If only we actually got a more classic Autumnal season in Brisbane.
