I’m a little late posting this week, things have been… well lets just say hectic 🙂
This weeks theme was actually a bit tough for me I had a great idea for it but it is the wrong time of year so that wasn’t going to work. So this is a little bit of fun, I may change my mind though and post a picture of a squirrel later. I like squirrels!

I know cheesy title but it was either labelling my post this or dredging up the lyrics to the Cures “Charlotte Sometimes” I think this has decidedly cheerier characteristics, especially seeing as I am posting about my new start 🙂
I started Violet Sometimes! Mr B ordered the chart and much to my surprise had it within 24 hours of its realease so once I had sorted out my fabric dilemma I was able to start putting stitches into her late last week.
She is a dream to stitch so far and I think will be huge amounts of fun. As usual I started in the top left hand corner but I have already hit some of the stripey purple and black candy cane. The contrast is not as defined as in the original artwork but it looks great in person and I am happy with how it is looking. She is being stitched on 28ct Jobelan (of course) antique white 1×1, this is about 1600 stitches. I have had to put her aside for a bit now though so I can get Nics RR finished. I can see her getting lots of attention though when I don’t have other commitments.

This weeks photo is of the little light implacements that are scattered around on the tree tops walk side of Capilano Suspension Bridge in Vancouver Canada. I just think they are adorable and loverd the atmosphere the lights gave to he area. They make me think that there should be some of the cute little forest sprites from Princess Mononoke playing about tumbling over them 🙂
Adams photo for this week is gorgeous but then I am a sucker for snow and sunsets.

I have been negelectful of my blog again.
The past week was somewhat hectic and kept me away from the computer, not always a bad thing really.
I do have some pictures to post though. One was meant to go up over a week ago… woops.
I managed more on cirques this month than I expected, it really does stitch up quickly given that I haven’t out all that many hours into this piece so far. This is most of the first page barring the larger circle motif. Unfortunately the colours still aren’t showing when I scan it or photograph it. The blend through green to burgundy and into purple and deep blue tones is really lovely in this silk.
Oh … speaking of silks Nic and I discovered last week that my current hair colour is a match for Glorianas “ultraviolet” in case anyone is at all interested. I found it somewhat amusing to haev a silk refenence for my hair. We worked out one for the last read I had through it as well but I have forgotten it now. I think one of them may have been Glorianas Cranberry.
This weekend was the 2007 Chellenge SAL over on the HAED BB. I had a new start for this : Return of Spring by Ian Daniels. I jsut love this artwork and have it kitted for ages and nevr started it… strange behaviour I know. The weekendkept me busier than I would haev liked but I did manage close to 1000 stitches I think. She is stitched 1×1 on 28ct Jobelan (not sure of the exact colour) the shading in this is quite amazing adn there isn’t a great deal of confettit stitching which is nice.

Well here we are again. This weeks theme is “Earth” My phto pic for this week is an older one but one I like a lot. It is darker here than the actual phot as I had tto scan from an old printed photo. Eeeep photos from before I had a digital camera! I think it suits the theme well especially with the darker toning.

What is it you ask?
It is a photo of sand not long after the waves have drawn back from the shore. The tide was going out and left these awesome patterns. This particular photo was taken on Kings Beach in Bowen (far north quuensland) probably about 8 years ago now as I was driving back down along the coast following a Holiday in Mt Isa.

I meant to post this the other day but I kept getting distracted before I got around to it. My first finish of 2007 (should have been finished in 2006) and number six for the challenge. It is a free chart from Ink Circles adn stitched up wonderfully. The fabric is 32ct crystal Sterling from Picture this Plus and it is stitched in VC silks. Dragons blood for the main varigated knot and Diane’s Rouge for the darker shaded outline. Stitched over 1, completely forgot what I was doing when I chose 32ct fabric but it was a lot easier than I expected on the 32ct. The colours are a lot richer than they appear in this picture, hopefully if I take another picture once it is finished up into a bookmark the colours will show more accurately.

And one more thing I forgot to post. Here is my progress on lost from the Wed QS SAL. I got home late wed so didn’t have much time to stitch but I was determined to get a few stitches in. Silly me could’t find the page of the chart I had been working on though so I moved onto page two briefly. This coming week I am hoping to strt seeing the little dragon. ( I eventually found the page I was missing).

I got home from work late again tonight so I haven’t had much time to come up with a picture for the first posting of the photo hunt. So here’s my very loved and rather tattered old bear. He was given to me the day I was born and was my constant childhood companion through all the crazy antics I got up to as a child. Over the years the poor bear has had numerous name changes and even sex changes. I think of it more as a him now but I am sure it was not always that way.

Given that I said I was going to go back to making monthly goals for my stitching here goes:
January Stitching Goals
- Finish my section on Nics RR ready for posting.
- finish ink circles bookmark
- participate in QS Wed each week
- New start for new start SAL (return of spring) and participate in teh SAL on 12th of Jan
- St Nick SAL (there is no set “time” for this but I will try and get some stitches in each tuesday adn update with a pic at the end of the month
- Choose an ornament and make sure I have it kitted so I can participate in the ornament SAL
- finish at least one more circle on cirques
I am sure that will keep me quite busy for the month. It will be intersting to see how well I go.
The other thing I am starting this month with Adam is a photo scavenger hunt. I loved the idea whn I saw it over at nickis blog with the photo hunters and decided I would love to participate. It was late in the year though so I held off. I went looking for soemthing that said it would be repeated in 2007 and came up empty handed (this has now changed and I am aware they are running themes for 2007 as well). At the time Adam and I decided to try our hands at putting together our own list that we will post from weekly on wednesdays. I will need t post this weeks when I make it home from work tonight. The themes can be found here. Anyone can play along if they want I think Nic was going to join in too but she hasn’t got her blog together yet.
